Why I Prefer Preloved Frugi, JoJo and Boden Over Buying New
As a mum of three, I've bought children's clothing from all sorts of brands over the years.
Some have impressed me, some haven't, and a few have become favourites that I always look out for when shopping preloved.
Frugi, JoJo Maman Bébé, Duns and Boden are brands I come back to again and again. Not because they're trendy, but because they genuinely last.
Good Quality Lasts Longer
One of the biggest differences I've noticed with these brands is how well they wash.
Children's clothes go through a lot. They get worn hard, washed repeatedly and passed between siblings.
The best brands still look good after all of that.
That's why I love buying them preloved. Someone else has already paid the original price, but the clothing still has plenty of life left in it.
Frugi
Frugi is probably one of the most recognisable children's clothing brands in the preloved world.
The colours stay bright, the fabrics feel lovely and the clothes are designed to be practical as well as fun.
Many Frugi pieces still look fantastic after being worn by multiple children, which makes them ideal for buying second hand.
JoJo Maman Bébé
JoJo has always been one of my favourite brands for younger children.
Their sleepsuits, coats and everyday pieces are generally very well made and wash beautifully.
The designs are often timeless too, which means they don't look dated a few years later.
Boden
Boden is one of those brands that regularly surprises me.
The quality is consistently good and the clothes often hold their value well.
I've found some amazing Boden bargains over the years, including a beautiful tutu skirt for my daughter that cost just £3 in a charity shop.
Don't Forget Duns and Maxomorra
While Frugi, JoJo and Boden are often the most well-known, Duns and Maxomorra deserve a mention too.
In terms of durability, Duns is probably one of the best brands I've come across. The colours stay vibrant and the fabric seems to last forever.
Maxomorra is another brand that washes incredibly well and is often sought after by parents who love colourful children's clothing.
What I Look For When Buying Preloved
When buying any preloved clothing, I always look for:
- Clear photos
- Honest descriptions
- Signs the item has been well cared for
- Good overall condition
A little extra attention from the seller often tells you a lot about how the clothing has been treated.
Final Thoughts
For me, buying these brands preloved is the best of both worlds.
I get access to high-quality children's clothing without paying full retail prices, and the clothes are often still in excellent condition.
If you're new to preloved shopping, these are some of the brands I'd recommend looking out for first.
